Depending on your Salesforce org and licensing, you could have anywhere from 5 to 3,000 custom objects. We’re not sure how many companies out there are hitting the upper ends of that scale – but given Salesforce’s low-code/no-code nature, we’re guessing many orgs have hundreds or thousands of customizations. The sheer number of customizations is why many Salesforce testers just do spot checks before pushing a release to production – it’s simply unfathomable to test them all. A spot check may work if you’re checking if your kid cleaned their room, but in enterprise software, it won’t cut it.
