I’m excited to announce that Tricentis has acquired SeaLights, a SaaS-based, AI-powered software quality intelligence platform. This acquisition extends Tricentis’ quality intelligence capabilities to deliver unparalleled visibility and insights throughout the CI/CD pipeline for a wide array of applications and environments, including Java, JavaScript, C#, .Net Core, and more.

Quality intelligence, and SeaLights’ technology in particular, is a game-changer for the future of quality engineering. SeaLights delivers next-generation capabilities that will enable software delivery teams to:

  • Cut test cycle time and costs by executing only code change-related tests
  • Troubleshoot and fix issues faster by focusing on relevant tests
  • Minimize the risk of production errors by identifying and addressing gaps in test coverage

Since 2015, SeaLights has provided large enterprises with essential tools to uphold quality standards and expedite software delivery. By utilizing agents to map code to tests, assess code changes, and leverage machine learning to pinpoint quality risks during releases, SeaLights has enabled development teams to focus on the most vital tests, thereby saving time and speeding up release cycles.

Why quality intelligence is critical

In today’s rapidly evolving IT landscape, AI-driven quality intelligence is indispensable. Software delivery teams are under pressure to release changes at an increasingly rapid pace. Complete test coverage isn’t always necessary – in fact, running every test in your test suite before every release can create a bottleneck in an otherwise rapid release process. Instead, teams must create an intelligent approach to software testing that prioritizes only the necessary tests based on what’s actually at risk.

Often, despite running large regression suites, teams push code changes to production without adequate testing due to a lack of visibility into coverage. This can result in high-cost defects slipping into the production environment, undermining the software’s reliability and compromising the user experience.

With SeaLights, testing teams can better understand not only what needs to be tested, but also where they have gaps in risk coverage and need to build additional tests. By pinpointing the impact of code changes and assessing risks up front, teams can minimize redundancy in their test suites, ultimately achieving a higher level of risk coverage with fewer tests. Combined with Tricentis’ best-in-class test automation, the result is a focused test plan that significantly reduces the risk, time, and cost of delivering software changes.

A shared vision for progress

SeaLights extends Tricentis further into DevOps and enhances our SaaS portfolio, supporting our vision of enabling customers to achieve better business outcomes by delivering high-quality, high-performing applications quickly, regardless of the platform or environment. SeaLights complements products across the Tricentis portfolio in several ways, including:

  • Tricentis Tosca: Used together with Tosca, software delivery teams can accelerate their CI/CD pipeline by focusing testing on only the parts of the application that changed based on the SeaLights code analysis.
  • Tricentis qTest: The combination of SeaLights and qTest provides a new level of requirements coverage. By analyzing test cases and plans linked to Jira user stories, SeaLights will identify gaps and make recommendations to ensure all requirements are covered.
  • Tricentis Testim: Leveraging SeaLights’ root cause analysis, developers using Testim can map test failures tied to specific code commits to accelerate resolution and elevate quality.
  • Tricentis LiveCompare: SeaLights complements LiveCompare by providing SAP customers with extended support in their modernization journey across all custom applications, regardless of programming language.

I welcome SeaLights to the Tricentis family, and I am excited to see what the future holds for Tricentis as we continue to expand our portfolio of testing products to empower our customers and fuel our growth.
